[The Lesson]
[Overview]
This lesson was nothing special, we just spent time reviewing all my exam pieces and going through them. I have some pitch issues whenever I play a note with my pinky. I guess it’s because I need to reach for those notes? But also, I wonder why my teacher doesn’t allow me to warm up with scales or something. I’ve noticed that no matter how good I sound at home, whenever we start a lesson, I’m always completely out of tune. But, throughout the lesson my intonation magically fixes itself. At home, out of habit, I always warm up with some kind of etude or scale. So I guess that kind of warm up gets my ears and fingers in tune? I don’t know. But, anyways, my exam is before my lesson next week. Let’ hope I pass. To be honest, I don’t care that much about passing or failing that much anymore. I just want to be able to stop practicing those pieces or wasting time in lessons reviewing them. None of them were interesting to play for me, and I think I really got all I needed technically out of them.
[Technique]
We didn’t go over any new techniques but the one technique I really want to improve this week is my vibrato.
[Repertoire]
We went over all of the exam pieces for level 2.
[The Practice]
[This Week’s Goals]
Practice the hell out of my vibrato, and try to pass this damn exam.
